About

Who are We?

We are OMPAD aka Organization of Millet Production and Distribution. Just a team of young kids striving towards the goal of making the World aware of this tiny little food substance named millet. We are doing this for a year long school project which includes campaigning, research and of course social activities to make a little difference in this world.

Our Mission

Our mission at OMPAD is to raise awareness of millets, how they are cultivated, their distribution and most important of all to help you find out that there is a grain that is better for you and the world. Not only that we aspire to create a society that is free of starvation where everyone has something to eat.

What are Millets?

Millets are a group of highly nutritious, gluten-free grains widely cultivated in many parts of the world. Packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber, millets offer numerous health benefits. They are drought-resistant, environmentally sustainable, and a valuable resource in addressing global food security and nutritional challenges.

Zero Hunger Society

Why don't you invest some time in helping combat world hunger? It's part of the 17 UN goals!

The Earth, a planet teeming with diversity and richness, grapples with the paradox of plenty amidst widespread hunger and malnutrition. The vision of a zero-hunger society—where every individual has access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food—remains a crucial goal. To achieve this, concerted efforts across various domains are imperative.

International Year Of Millets

#IYM2023 will be an opportunity to raise awareness of and direct policy attention to millets' nutritional and health benefits and their suitability for cultivation under adverse and changing climatic conditions. The Year will also promote the sustainable production of millets while highlighting their potential to provide new sustainable market opportunities for producers and consumers.

So let's switch to millets, and celebrate IYM 2023
